Part of Rock Productions, the Shine Auditorium was a design and build project that was completed by Kyoob-ID in September 2011. The project involved converting two old cinemas into the 1700-seater auditorium replete with offices and discussion rooms for the use of private and public events such as corporate functions and Church activities.
Kyoob-ID selected a design concept that is Modern Victorian, cloaking the Shine Auditorium with contemporary chandeliers, intricate wall trimmings, and architectural columns. Within the auditorium, fabric walls in varying hues and depths create a flowing effect, emulating water cascading under the shimmery glare of the soft spotlights. This metaphor of cascading waters was selected for its calming and soothing connotations, enhancing the relaxing, cosy ambience within the auditorium. To reinforce the flowing theme, other design elements work in synergy from the carpets, acoustic wall covering and paneling to the ceilings. Compounded with modern and creative use of finishes like lighting, material textures, and furniture, the auditorium sparkles with elegance and grace; aptly fitting of its name – Shine.
Constructed at a given timeframe of less than 100 days, the Shine Auditorium is
creatively designed with special care for elderly use including new handicap toilet facilities and safely measured hand/ wall guards among others. Safety measures such as fire-rate materials application and smoke curtain installation and energy-saving features like aircon and lighting controls have also been incorporated. Designed to be maintenance-friendly, the Shine Auditorium was completed within the client's budget through creative application of effects, and use of existing material stock.
